How does the barcode system work?

Every piece of gear in the studios is supposed to have a unique barcode ID. This helps not only with tracking the gear when it's moved, but also keeping track of repairs and other information.

If you see a barcode with an asterisk (*) next to it, it is not part of the Gear Depot inventory and is intead used in the studios.
