Please open a ticket to request usage of the recording studio

Please note the following

Access to the Recording Studio and Control Room is granted on a case-by-case basis for specific projects, as approved by TIMARA faculty and staff.  These resources are primarily for TIMARA majors and students currently enrolled in TIMARA courses.  To gain access to these spaces when one is not currently enrolled in a TIMARA course is a privilege that may be revoked at any time.

Considerations for Approval

  • Has the student successfully passed TECH 330 and demonstrated their fluency of the tools in the studios. Will the student be self-sufficient in using the space?
  • Has the student demonstrated that they will use the spaces responsibly?  Have they followed all studio policies?
  • How much time/access is the student requesting for a project and is this likely to disturb work and/or projects for current courses?

Note that if permission is granted for access to these facilities, the precise details of the logistics for this access will be determined on a case-by-case basis.  Note that you may be given access for a shorter period than requested, or asked to limit your time in the space to accommodate current courses.  Access to the space will be restricted to regular business hours.  We reserve the right to revoke access to the space at any time if you fail to comply with the terms outlined for your use of the space or with regular studio policies.  Also note that approval for use of the recording studio and control room does not include access to any of the other TIMARA studios.

Note that no one may profit from the use of the TIMARA studios.  The engineer may not be paid for recording the session.  Ensembles who have clear and immediate plans to offer the recording for sale are excluded.

If this application is approved by the TIMARA Committee, the engineer is reminded that they are responsible for the recording sessions.  This responsibility includes liability for damages associated with the session and the behavior of the members of the ensemble being recorded.  In particular, the engineer is responsible for notifying the members of the ensemble of our policies for general use of the TIMARA Complex and for enforcing those policies.  These policies include:

  • Engineer is responsible for enforcing these rules.
  • Engineer is not allowed to accept payment for recording.
  • Engineer may not leave ensemble members unattended in the studios.
  • Ensemble members are not allowed to have lock combinations.
  • Ensemble members may not bang on the door to get in.
  • Ensemble members may not wander around the studios.
  • Ensemble members may not operate equipment.
  • Ensemble members may not practice in the lounge area.
  • Ensemble members are not allowed during late night hours.
  • Do not prop main entrance doors or studio studio doors.
  • No food, drink or smoking in the studios, lounge area or stairwell

In addition, you are responsible for following all studio policies outlined on the TIMARA Wiki at the link below and ensuring that your guests follow these policies as well.
